After ‘Barfly’ from 2020, I wanted to create more insect - creature pieces.

They are the perfect antidote to the heavy topics and stress that are all around us, in the middle of a global pandemic and amid increasing polarisation.

What is fascinating to me, is the automatic humanisation that happens in the creation process of these ‘insect-paintings’. They become distilled life force, and pure humanoid emotion.

We all understand joy.

The piece was painted in an analogous colour scheme starting at yellow and stopping at blue - green. These colours represent the heart and crown shakra energy, therefore adding an uplifting energy on a subconscious level as well.
