Walking around a small village in Uruguay, I learned that the word ‘agua viva’ referred to jellyfish. ‘Alive water’.

The thin line barely visible between an element like water, and a creature that is alive and has consciousness, is fascinating.

In this universe, the same source provides different forms and expressions of consciousness. That source has all these possibilities inside of it. And we are all of that source.

All colours can be expressed from a single white beam of light, when it travels through a prism and expands into a rainbow. This proves that colours are intrinsic to light, and that where there is light, there are colours.

Where there are elements of life force, there will be expressions of that life force in living beings, like agua viva.

Animated version of ‘Agua Viva’

I wanted to see if I could bring my oil painting 'Agua Viva' to life.

The challenge (to myself) was to take a physical piece of art and make a digital file that becomes a story in itself, separate from the original painting.

So I created a digital version of an aquarium.
